New performance piece in process to be premiered in 2015. A project about the relation among sound, space and body.
In general terms, in what we provisionally call THE SOUND PROJECT, there is a question about the different relationships that can be established between sound, space and the body from its differential qualities or what is the same, the challenge of thinking (processing/viewing?) each of these elements from the other’s perspective. This question is not alien to the time we live in. A question that detonates into a thousand questions more or that somehow contains and practice an explosion of previous and urgent questions:
What are our listening capabilities? What happens if listening displaces gaze as the hegemonic sense and the meaning of what is said or what is heard could not be reduced to a single meaning? Can we think of the body and treat it as a sound body? Which sounds do we associate to our body or to the movements that the body performs? And what is the meaning which is imposed upon them? Can we create for them other ways of listening and other meanings? And what about the sounds that come from the other bodies? Can we think the space in which the movements are generated or listened to in is sound dimension? Or to put it another way, What spaces are generated by this sound material, if there is any? How to inhabit the spaces that we share with others? What other ways can we inhabit the spaces if we listened differently? What spaces, what sounds, what forms of listening are we able to put into play and what are we capable of imagining
